Why is Cesium Iodide (CsI) Important?

ExamVue Flat Panel Detectors (FPD) use direct-deposit Cesium Iodide (CsI) technology. CsI is the highest level of highest level of technology used to: reduce the radiation dose, optimize light production, and achieve crisp, high-resolution images. One ExamVue differentiator is that our panels not only use CsI but direct-deposit CsI.

Using patented technology, CsI crystals are grown onto each panel to demanding standards. This varies greatly from other manufacturers that purchase and glue the material to the panels, which can lead to delamination and artifacts, affecting performance of the panel. Low-dose, industry-leading image quality is the product of combining direct deposited CsI, state-of-the-art electronic components, and patented advanced signal processing.

Since our FPD use the direct deposit process, we are able to minimize the amount of isotropic lateral scattering, which would result in poor resolution images. ExamVue’s advanced process also allows the least photo coupling loss, which translates to the best Modular Transfer Function (MTF) and Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE).
